Burton Albion<\/a> have secured a trio of players on new contract for the 2020\/21 League One season. The club moved to secure the futures of three experienced players with each taking a significant pay-cut.<\/p>\n

Significant Signings<\/h3>\n

John Brayford<\/a>, Kieran Wallace<\/a> and Stephen Quinn<\/a> all put pen-to-paper on new deals after their current deals expired this summer.<\/p>\n

The Brewers have had to make significant cost-cutting moves since the coronavirus hit in order to protect the club’s future.<\/p>\n

These new deals follow the replacement of Nigel Clough as manager by player Jake Buxton after the former Derby County and Sheffield United boss stood down to help the club financially<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Quinn Agrees One-Year Burton Contract Extension<\/h3>\n

Former Republic of Ireland international Stephen Quinn signed a new one year deal at the Pirelli Stadium. Quinn joined Burton from Reading back in 2018.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old has made 86 appearances for the club and has become a key cog in the Brewers midfield.<\/p>\n

Manager Jake Buxton<\/a> described him as: “an influential part of the dressing room” when speaking to the\u00a0 official website,<\/a> and added: “I think it\u2019s a brilliant message to the Burton Albion supporters that someone of Stephen\u2019s calibre wants to stay at the club.”<\/p>\n

Burton Sign Wallace For Another Year<\/h3>\n

Joining Quinn in signing a one-year deal is 25-year-old Kieran Wallace.<\/p>\n

The former Sheffield United player can play in both defence and midfield. Buxton praised his versatile nature when he said: “Kieran can cover three or four positions and established himself as a first-team regular last season.”<\/p>\n

Wallace joined the club from non-league Matlock Town in 2018 but has been well up to the challenge of League One football having made 61 appearances.<\/p>\n

Brayford Pens Two-Year Deal<\/h3>\n

Veteran defender John Brayford has agreed to a deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2022.<\/p>\n

The ex-Derby County and Sheffield United player joined the club, initially on loan from the Blades, in the 2016\/17 season.<\/p>\n

The full-back, who is in his second spell at the club, has been part of the furniture in Burton’s backline for the past three years.<\/p>\n

Jake Buxton praised his former teammate’s invaluable experience, saying: “We\u2019re delighted that John\u2019s staying at the club and he\u2019s shown he\u2019s still got a lot to offer at this level.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s an integral part of the back-line and his experience is second-to-none.<\/p>\n

Brayford spoke of his desire to help the club protect their long-term future. “I spoke to the new manager about it and I decided it was the right thing to do. If reducing my pay was going to help the football club in the long run, then I was happy to help,” the 32-year old said.<\/p>\n
