Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst<\/a> has described Arsenal<\/a> as the \u201cperfect\u201d next step in his career as rumours<\/a> of a Premier League transfer circulate.<\/p>\n

Wout Weghorst Responds to Arsenal Rumours<\/h2>\n

Premier League Target<\/h3>\n

The Dutch forward, who has an estimated price tag of \u00a332 million, has caught the eye of several Premier League sides including Arsenal, according to German newspaper Bild<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Speaking with Bureau Sport <\/em>about the Gunners\u2019 speculated interest, Weghorst said: \u201cThat would be nice, wouldn\u2019t it? That would be a good thing, of course, that fits in the perfect picture.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the 27-year old refused to comment on whether contact had been made, stating: \u201cThis is a very boring answer, but you shouldn\u2019t be asking me about that. I would say call them up.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Prolific Scorer<\/h3>\n

Signed from AZ Alkmaar in 2018 after bagging 45 goals in 89 appearances, the 6’5″ forward quickly proved himself to be a real steal for \u00a39.45 million.<\/p>\n

In his first campaign in Germany, Weghorst scored 17 goals and provided seven assists to help his side to sixth in the table and finished the season as the league\u2019s joint-third highest scorer.<\/p>\n

Adding a further 16 goals to his account this season, the giant striker clocked up his fifth successive ten+ goal season.<\/p>\n

Averaging a goal every two games in the Bundesliga, Weghorst is a physical striker renowned for his aerial prowess and predatorial skills in the box, who could become a nightmare for Premier League defences in the mould of an injury-free Andy Carroll.<\/a><\/p>\n

Aubameyang\u2019s Replacement?<\/h3>\n

With just one year left on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang\u2019s <\/a>contract<\/a>, Arsenal are in the market for a proven goalscorer.<\/p>\n

The Gabon international\u2019s 22 goals in 2019\/20 account for nearly 45% of the Gunners\u2019 goals whilst only Alexandre Lacazette<\/a> and Gabriel Martinelli<\/a> have joined him in double figures (ten apiece).<\/p>\n

With the prospect of another season without Champions League football looking ever more certain, Arsenal would struggle to attract a forward of Aubameyang\u2019s calibre.<\/p>\n

However, should they be able to prize the star striker from Wolfburg\u2019s grasp, Weghorst could be the perfect fit for an Arsenal side desperately in need of goals.<\/p>\n
