Sunderland<\/a> striker Charlie Wyke has been linked with a move to League One rivals Ipswich Town<\/a>. Stuart Watson of the East Anglian Times<\/a> and Scott Wilson of the Northern Echo<\/a> are reporting that the Tractor Boys are interested in the Black Cats target man.<\/p>\n

Wyke joined Sunderland<\/a> in 2018 and has been a regular under Phil Parkinson<\/a> since his arrival in October last year. Parkinson will be reluctant to lose the big forward; however, if an acceptable fee was agreed, it could give the Sunderland<\/a> boss more to play with in the transfer market this summer.<\/p>\n

Ipswich Town Linked With Sunderland Striker Charlie Wyke<\/h2>\n

Striker a Priority for Paul Lambert<\/h3>\n

Ipswich<\/a> are expected to launch another bid to gain promotion back to the Championship next season, just like Sunderland<\/a>. Following an impressive start to last season, Paul Lambert’s side suffered from inconsistent form and eventually finished in 10th position.<\/p>\n

A striker is believed to by a top priority for the club according to the East Anglian Times<\/a>. They have already missed out on one target. Twenty-five-goal Swindon Town<\/a> striker Eoin Doyle<\/a> was reportedly on their radar, but it appears, he is favouring a move<\/a> to Bolton Wanderers<\/a>. Therefore, Charlie Wyke, who has plenty of League One experience, could be the next player Town attempt to recruit.<\/p>\n

Charlie Wyke Yet to Prove Himself at Sunderland But Parkinson Keen to Keep Him<\/h3>\n

Charlie Wyke was a Jack Ross<\/a> signing, arriving at the club after the Black Cats were relegated to League One from the Championship. The target man arrived injured and took time to adjust to life on Wearside once he regained fitness. However, his form was inconsistent. It left fans struggling to take to the forward as he failed to hit the net on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

Eleven goals in two seasons has not given fans confidence. Many believe he is not the man to fire the club into contention for promotion. However, manager Phil Parkinson appears to believe he is his best option at present. Wyke started 15 of the last 17 matches before the season was suspended, being prefered upfront ahead of Northern Ireland international Will Grigg<\/a>. Sunderland<\/a> currently have few options in their forward department and unless they can bring someone in, they will likely be reluctant to sell.<\/p>\n
