After his initial release, midfielder Ali Crawford<\/a> has agreed a new two-year deal with Bolton Wanderers.<\/p>\n

Returning to the Club<\/h3>\n

The 28-year-old was initially released by the Club following the end of the 2019\/20 season.<\/p>\n

However, following continuous negotiations, Crawford will now remain at the University of Bolton Stadium until 2022.<\/p>\n

The Scot agreed to join the Club last summer following the termination of his contract with fellow League One side Doncaster Rovers.<\/p>\n

Crawford only made 16 appearances during the 2019\/20 season, scoring twice and registering five assists.<\/p>\n

However, he impressed in a Bolton side that were likely to struggle from the beginning of the season due to their financial struggles. Furthermore, he also missed a quarter of the season through injury.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Trotters and new manager Ian Evatt<\/a> were keen to see him remain with the Club for the forthcoming season.<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Crawford spoke to the official Bolton Wanderers website<\/a> about his new two-year deal. He said: \u201cI\u2019m delighted to have got the deal over the line. It\u2019s good to have got it done nice and early, and for me to look forward to the season coming.<\/p>\n

\u201cBolton Wanderers is a massive club and it shouldn\u2019t be where it is. The challenge of trying to help the Club get back up the leagues is one that excites me.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike the new Head Coach said, the aim is to try and get promoted from League Two as soon as possible and I\u2019m looking forward to trying to help the Club achieve that this season.<\/p>\n

Newly appointed Evatt also expressed his delight on securing the Scotsman’s services.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am absolutely delighted we have secured Ali on a new two-year contract,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is exactly the type of player we want at the football club.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing a possession-based team, his quality on the ball will give us that cutting edge we need and I can\u2019t wait to work with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Marc Iles of The Bolton News<\/a>, Crawford decided to reject offers to remain in League One.<\/p>\n
