Chelsea<\/a> are set to step up their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen<\/a> attacking midfielder Kai Havertz<\/a> after Saturday’s German Cup final.<\/p>\n

Chelsea Set to Step Up Pursuit of Kai Havertz<\/h2>\n

German sources believe Chelsea will make an opening bid for Kai Havertz after Leverkusen’s German Cup final clash with Bayern Munich<\/a> on Saturday, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The chances of Havertz leaving Bayer Leverkusen have recently taken a boost with the club’s failure to qualify for Champions League<\/a> football.<\/p>\n

Many of his suitors will be playing in Europe’s elite competition next season, possibly including Chelsea.<\/p>\n

They are chasing Leicester City<\/a> in third place and are looking to hold off the likes of Manchester United<\/a> and Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a> in the Premier League<\/a>‘s top four battle.<\/p>\n

Other Options<\/h3>\n

The Blues will face competition for Havertz’s signature, however.<\/p>\n

Saturday’s opponents for Leverkusen, Bayern, are interested in setting up a deal that would see them sign Havertz next summer<\/a>, having already<\/a> signed Leroy Sane<\/a> from Manchester City<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n

Real Madrid<\/a> are also thought to have shown an interest in the Chelsea target.<\/p>\n

Chelsea Determined<\/h3>\n

It’s claimed that Chelsea seem determined to fight hard to sign Havertz.<\/p>\n

However, they will look to negotiate a deal lower than his current side’s \u00a390 million valuation.<\/p>\n

What Will Havertz Bring?<\/h3>\n

Havertz has been involved in 18 Bundesliga<\/a> goals in his 30 appearances in the 2019\/20 campaign.<\/p>\n

He is an attacking midfielder who can showcase his skills in many positions up top. Including as a central forward, as he has been deployed a number of times this season.<\/p>\n

He will be a superb acquisition for his suitors.<\/p>\n

Having added RB Leipzig<\/a>‘s Timo Werner<\/a> to the fold<\/a> at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will be excited at the prospect of a link-up between the two German forwards.<\/p>\n

Chelsea have lacked a star man since the departure of Eden Hazard<\/a> for Real Madrid. Alongside the addition of Werner, they could well have two by the end of the summer.<\/p>\n
