Hull City have completed their second signing of the day by bringing in Stockport County defender Festus Arthur for an undisclosed fee. The German-born defender has signed a three-year deal with the Tigers with an option of a further year.<\/p>\n
Arthur has impressed for Stockport this season as the Hatters set about achieving back-to-back promotions. They secured the National League North title in 2018\/19 and were on course for a play-off spot this season in the National League.<\/p>\n
However, once the final standings were decided on a points-per-game system, the former Football League side dropped out of the play-off spots and were replaced by Barnet.<\/p>\n
Despite this, Arthur had clearly done enough to be noticed by those higher up the pyramid, and this move represents a serious step up regardless of which league Hull end up playing in next season.<\/p>\n
They are currently struggling at the bottom end of the Championship and their dire run of form, plus the fact that several key players failed to agree terms to extend their deals until the end of the season, means that they are in danger of dropping into League One.<\/p>\n
Arthur is the second signing Grant McCann’s side have made today following the announcement that Mallik Wilks has made his loan move<\/a> from fellow strugglers Barnsley a permanent one.<\/p>\n Speaking to the club website about the deal, Arthur said: \u201cI\u2019m very happy to be a Hull City player.
