Oldham Athletic have announced<\/a> their retained and released list following the end of the League Two season, with nine contracted players set to depart.<\/p>\n

Difficulties Due to Coronavirus Pandemic<\/h3>\n

The Latics have stressed that the future is currently uncertain for the club.<\/p>\n

A statement on the official Club website said: “In the existing climate, planning for the future is clearly very difficult. Maintaining financial security remains the primary aim and whilst other Clubs and their players work through exactly the same issues, it is unlikely we will see many deals being done until dates of return and the conditions under which this will happen are confirmed.”<\/p>\n

Oldham – who finished 19th in League Two – have been struggling financially. They have recently had a winding-up petition dismissed<\/a> by the High Court.<\/p>\n

Who Will Remain at Boundary Park?<\/h3>\n

Currently, there are only six players certain to stay at Boundary Park.<\/p>\n

Striker Zak Dearnley<\/a> is among those who will be with the Latics for the 2019\/20 season. The 21-year-old recently signed a new two-year deal,<\/a> having scored four goals in eight games since joining in January.<\/p>\n

Fellow January signing and striker Danny Rowe<\/a> has also been retained. The 30-year-old, who had impressed in non-league before making the jump into the Football League, has scored three goals since arriving in January.<\/p>\n

Alongside the pair in having been retained by the Club are Dylan Fage<\/a>, David Wheater<\/a>, Gary Woods<\/a> and Tom Hamer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Short-Term Deals<\/h3>\n

Oldham have agreed several short-term deals with a host of players in order to negotiate the government’s furlough scheme.<\/p>\n

Among these players is Christopher Missilou<\/a>. The Congolese has been a virtual mainstay in the midfield since joining in 2018. He made 30 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three goals.<\/p>\n

Johan Branger-Engone<\/a>, Zeus De la Paz<\/a>, Tomas Egert<\/a>, Mohamed Maouche<\/a> have also agreed short-term deals.<\/p>\n

Permanently Released<\/h3>\n

Oldham have confirmed that nine players have left Boundary Park following the expiry of their contract on June 30.<\/p>\n

Midfielder Chris McCann<\/a> is one player who has been released. The Irishman made 16 appearances for the Latics during his time at Boundary Park, having joined from Atlanta United.<\/p>\n
