But I still have a little time and I still want to stand on the field every day and enjoy club football.”

He later said, “If I had a top offer, I would also switch to the Premier League.”

Nagelsmann’s contract doesn’t run out until 2023, but his comments will have alerted the boards of many Premier League clubs.

Nagelsmann’s Options

Predicting what the Premier League will look like in three years is nearly impossible. But, several top clubs may be courting Nagelsmann around that time.

Tottenham Hotspur

One club could be Spurs, where Jose Mourinho could be completing his third full season with the club. If Mourinho’s managerial record is anything to go by, Spurs will likely be looking to replace him.

Nagelsmann would be an ideal fit there. His ability to meet ambitious objectives on a relatively low budget, as exhibited by his work at Hoffenheim, would have Daniel Levy licking his lips. His record of developing strikers, especially Timo Werner and Andrej Kramaric, would bode well for both Harry Kane and Troy Parrott.

Manchester City

Another option may be Manchester City. With a European ban looming, and Pep Guardiola‘s contract expiring in 2021, City may be looking for someone to lead a rebuild job. Nagelsmann’s management of projects at both Hoffenheim and Leipzig speaks for itself. Even though he’s stated his intention to see out his Leipzig contract, the prospect of working with a nearly unlimited budget could tempt him to backtrack.

Either way, Nagelsmann would be the perfect acquisition for most Premier League clubs.

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann has admitted his desire to move to the Premier League upon the expiry of his contract in 2023.
