A week after facing scrutiny over the ‘White Lives Matter’ plane banner<\/a>, Burnley<\/a> are subject to interest from an overseas consortium.<\/p>\n

According to the Telegraph<\/a>, the overseas consortium are interested in buying the Premier League<\/a> club. The club is viewed as having huge potential by the investors.<\/p>\n

It is understood that American and Middle Eastern investors are looking closely at Burnley. However, they will wait till a post-COVID-19 world before seeing if there is an appetite for a takeover.<\/p>\n

The big question from this is would Burnley chairman Mike Garlick be interested in a takeover?<\/p>\n

Is Burnley up for Sale?<\/h3>\n

A statement<\/a> in 2018 suggested that he although he was open to outside investment, there was no talks about a takeover and he wanted to stay on for another five years.<\/p>\n

At this time he said: “I’m planning to stay another five years. I can’t see any changes on the horizon.<\/p>\n

“I get calls quite regularly from people saying they’d be interested in investing. We have an attitude of ‘If you want to, who are you? What do you want to do?’<\/p>\n

“If someone wanted to come in and invest money and they are the right calibre then we’d always seriously look at it, but there’s not a for sale sign up, that’s for sure.”<\/p>\n

However, these plans may have changed now due to the club losing money from COVID-19.<\/p>\n

How Much Are Burnley Set to Lose?<\/h3>\n

According to a statement released on their website in April, Burnley are set to lose \u00a35 million in loss of revenue, which will not change even with the Premier League restart due to the games being played behind closed doors.<\/p>\n

Could the chairman now have changed his mind, with Burnley set to lose millions during the health crisis?<\/p>\n

Sean Dyche’s Future<\/h3>\n

If a takeover was to happen, they may have to do it without Sean Dyche at the helm.<\/p>\n

According to a further report in the Telegraph<\/a>, Dyche’s future is in doubt due to tensions with Garlick over the failure to agree new deals with a number of senior players.<\/p>\n

Dyche feels like his wishes has not been taken seriously and therefore is considering his future at the club.<\/p>\n

The Clarets have confirmed that senior players Joe Hart<\/a>, Aaron Lennon<\/a> and Adam Legzdins<\/a> will all leave the club when their contract expires, Midfielder Jeff Hendrick<\/a> has rejected a contract extension and looks set to leave this summer.<\/p>\n
