Derby County<\/a> fans are furious that Tom Lawrence<\/a> received a red card after an incident with Matt Miazga<\/a> following the Rams’ 2-1 win over Reading<\/a>.<\/p>\n

‘He Needs to Wise up and Grow up’<\/h3>\n

The victory, Derby’s fourth on the bounce, sends the Rams closer towards the play-off positions.<\/p>\n

Sat in eighth, Philip Cocu’s side are now just three points behind Cardiff City<\/a>, in sixth, ahead of key fixtures in their hunt for a playoff spot.<\/p>\n

But the Rams’ 2-1 victory at the Madejski was overshadowed by Lawrence’s red card after full-time.<\/p>\n

As Cocu’s side celebrated the continuation of their fine form, Lawrence was caught up in an incident with Reading defender Matt Miazga.<\/p>\n

The Chelsea<\/a> loanee and Lawrence both exchanged blows with Lawrence seemingly headbutting the Royals defender.<\/p>\n

Referee Scott Duncan sent both players off after the whistle.<\/p>\n

As a result of the dismissal, Lawrence will miss the matches against Preston<\/a> and West Bromwich Albion<\/a> – he will also be absent in the East Midlands derby against Nottingham Forest<\/a> in just over a week’s time.<\/p>\n

County boss Cocu appealed for Lawrence to “take action” and learn from his mistake.<\/p>\n

He said: “We can all try and give advice to help him but, in the end, the player has to take control of his motion by himself.<\/p>\n

“That’s something I had to learn personally when I was young – not as many red cards but many yellow cards just by emotion involved in a game, the drive to win a game.<\/p>\n

“A player like Tom we don’t want to miss for a few games but that could be happening now.”<\/p>\n

He added: “I think this will be a good moment for him looking forward – to learn from it – but also to take action from it.”<\/p>\n

Rams Fans React on Twitter<\/h3>\n

The sending off has divided County fans regarding his reliability.<\/p>\n

It’s the 26-year-old’s second sending off since joining the Rams from Ipswich Town and, with 12 yellow cards to his name this season, his discipline is a point for concern.<\/p>\n
