Stewart Downing<\/a> is one of six first-team players to have signed a short-term deal until the end of the season, as Blackburn Rovers confirm<\/a> who is remaining their retained list.<\/p>\n

Stewart Downing Signs Short-Term Deal<\/h2>\n

Extending Beyond June 30 Deadline<\/h3>\n

The extension of the 2019\/20 season has meant that clubs have to agree on short-term deals with players to remain until the end of the campaign.<\/p>\n

Six players who were out of contract at Ewood Park have agreed to stay beyond the end of their original contract of June 30.<\/p>\n

One of those players is former Liverpool<\/a> winger Stewart Downing, who has made 37 appearances for Blackburn Rovers this season, scoring three times.<\/p>\n

Joining the 35-year-old in remaining until the end of the season is Danny Graham<\/a>, despite not having his best season in a blue and white shirt. The 34-year-old has scored just three times this season, in comparison to the 15 he registered during the 2018\/19 campaign.<\/p>\n

Sam Hart<\/a> will also remain at Ewood Park until the end of the season, despite spending the second half of this season on loan with Shrewsbury Town.<\/p>\n

Dominic Samuel<\/a> is perhaps one player who can count himself lucky to have agreed a short-term deal. The 26-year-old has not been a prolific striker throughout his career, and that has not changed during his time with the Lancashire club.<\/p>\n

Jayson Leutwiler <\/a>and Richie Smallwood<\/a> have also signed short-term deals.<\/p>\n

While the quarter are all merely squad players at Ewood Park, they will all have a vital part to play in Rovers’ play-off push.<\/p>\n

Tony Mowbray’s side currently sit eighth in the Championship, just one point behind Preston North End, who occupy the last play-off place.<\/p>\n

They returned from their enforced three-month hiatus last Saturday with a 3-1 win over Bristol City, thanks to goals from Corry Evans<\/a>, Tosin Adarabioyo<\/a> and Adam Armstrong<\/a>.<\/p>\n
