It’s two games and two losses for West Ham United<\/a> since the Premier League restart. After blowing a good chance to get early points on the board in a home loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a>, the Hammers went to Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> last night knowing they’d need to put in a solid performance. Despite working hard, solid was far from what they produced, and manager David Moyes was unhappy with that lack of prolificacy in front of goal.<\/p>\n

West Ham United Need to Make Chances Count Says David Moyes<\/h2>\n

Chances Go Begging for West Ham<\/h3>\n

A trio of Hammers players had glorious chances to get their first goal since the restart. However, neither Michail Antonio, Pablo Fornals or Jarrod Bowen could take their opportunity when it came to them.<\/p>\n

Moyes felt that a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal was key to the result on the night and it’s something they will have to improve if they are to avoid relegation.<\/p>\n

He told Sky Sports after the game<\/a>: \u201cI thought we had some chances ourselves in the game, so\u00a0there were a lot of good things we can take from the game. I thought the players put in a tremendous amount of effort, but ultimately it was the points we needed. We need the effort but we need the points to go with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re lacking goals, but we\u2019re short with what options we\u2019ve got to make that happen. We got one or two chances. Pablo had a chance and Antonio had an opportunity, Jarrod hit the post, so we had some opportunities tonight which we didn\u2019t take but which we have to take, because we\u2019re not going to get loads and loads of opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unhappy With VAR<\/h3>\n

There was one West Ham player on the scoresheet, but unfortunately for Tomas Soucek it was at the wrong end and he inadvertently directed a corner into his own net.<\/p>\n

Moyes, though, bemoaned the use of VAR, who looked at a possible handball by Davinson Sanchez as the ball came down to Soucek. Despite replays showing that it glanced his arm, the goal stood and Spurs went ahead, before doubling their lead later through Harry Kane<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Moyes said: \u201cI can\u2019t believe that they\u2019ve ruled that as a goal, after the rules which are any handball which leads to a goal is disallowed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a great goal scored against Sheffield United<\/a> for something similar, and they\u2019ve not ruled that one out.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the rule. I didn\u2019t think it was a particularly good rule, but that is the rule, and for them not to give that tonight, I can\u2019t believe it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The result leaves West Ham still in 17th place and still outside the relegation zone on goal difference. However, they have now played a game more than Bournemouth<\/a>, so any points for them tonight away at Wolves will put the Hammers into the drop zone.<\/p>\n
