Derby County have reached agreements with a handful of players to extend their contracts that were due to expire at the end of the month.<\/p>\n
The club had until June 30th to arrange deals with a number of players so that they were available for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n
But the Rams, who sit three points outside the play-offs, are still discussing the futures of some first-team players.<\/p>\n
Curtis Davies<\/a> and Craig Forsyth<\/a> have agreed on deals to keep them at the club until 2021 and 2022 respectively.<\/p>\n 35-year-old Davies joined the East Midlands club three years ago and has been captain for much of that time.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Forsyth’s new deal will take his time at the club to ten seasons, having joined from Watford<\/a> in 2013.<\/p>\n Despite numerous long-term injury setbacks, the Scot made his 200th club appearance last weekend in Derby’s 3-2 win over Millwall<\/a>.<\/p>\n Phillip Cocu’s side have also confirmed a short-term deal with striker Chris Martin<\/a> until the end of the season.<\/p>\n The club appears keen to keep Martin at the club beyond this summer after impressive performances this season.<\/p>\n With the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the transfer market, a new contract for the forward seems likely.<\/p>\n However, no deal has yet been struck between Derby and veteran midfielder Tom Huddlestone<\/a>.<\/p>\n Huddlestone, who began his career with Derby before returning in 2017, is keen to go into coaching upon his retirement and this could be an obstacle in talks.<\/p>\n “[Huddlestone] would be open to something revolving around a two-year deal where the second season would see him work in more of a player-coach capacity.”, according to The Athletic.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n Derby did not offer a new contract to midfielder Ikechi Anya<\/a> and the 32-year-old will leave the club on June 30.
