Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> right-back Thomas Meunier<\/a> is set to sign for Borussia Dortmund<\/a> as a free agent, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed<\/a>. Just the final details remain for the move to reach completion.<\/p>\n

Thomas Meunier to Sign For Dortmund<\/h2>\n

Time in Paris<\/h3>\n

Meunier has been with Paris Saint-Germain since 2016 when he joined for a reported \u20ac7m from Club Brugge<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old has made 128 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions, scoring 13 goals and assisting 21 times. He may not have been one of the stellar signings the French giants have made over the years, but he certainly made an impact.<\/p>\n

It won’t be surprising that Meunier leaves the French capital with a number of medals. He’s been a part of three Ligue 1 winning sides in Paris, two Coupe de la Ligue’s and one Coupe de France. He has also lifted the Trophee des Champions on three occasions.<\/p>\n

Meunier had consistently made over 30 appearances a season, until this season, where he was three short of that landmark before the season was brought to an early end<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Paris Saint-Germain have allowed Meunier’s contract to run down. Meunier has always been calm about the situation and can now leave without a transfer fee.<\/p>\n

Prospects in Dortmund<\/h3>\n

Meunier makes the move to Borussia Dortmund, another major club on his CV. He is likely to replace Achraf Hakimi<\/a>, who is due to return to Real Madrid<\/a> at the end of his two-year loan.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen if Meunier will be given the opportunity to link-up with Jadon Sancho<\/a> as effectively as Hakimi did, if at all, with a potential move to Manchester United<\/a> on the cards.<\/p>\n

Meunier will bring a wealth of experience to Borussia Dortmund. A seasoned international with Belgium, having made 40 appearances, scoring on seven occasions for his country too. He should prove a reliable option for the famous ‘yellow wall’.<\/p>\n

Perhaps not quite to the comical extent of Wesley Sneijder<\/a> and Nicolas Gaitan<\/a>, but Thomas Meunier has long been linked with a potential move to Manchester United. Something that never came to fruition. More recently, he was rumoured<\/a> to be wanted by Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>.<\/p>\n
