Phil Foden has been showing a lot of potential rising through the ranks<\/a> at Manchester City<\/a>, but has been limited in the time he has been given to go out and show it. However, since the Premier League<\/a> returned last Wednesday, Foden has scored three goals in two games, including a devastating performance on Monday night’s demolition of Burnley<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Phil Foden Showing He Can Be Trusted at Manchester City<\/h2>\n

Majestic Performance Against Burnley<\/h3>\n

Phil Foden was majestic at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night. He not only scored a brace but displayed a phenomenal no-look pass to Bernardo Silva<\/a> in the build-up to David Silva<\/a>‘s goal – a pass the very best would have been proud of.<\/p>\n

“I think that was my best game in a Man City shirt,” Foden told reporters<\/a> after the game. “I’m still learning every day, I’m still young but I’m happy to put in performances like that.”<\/p>\n

Foden scored his first Premier League goal of the season after coming off the bench to add to Arsenal<\/a>‘s misery on Wednesday night<\/a>. It didn’t take him long to treble his tally, less than a week in fact.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old is surrounded by tonnes of quality in sky blue. If he can retain a place in the team then he can expect to have many more nights alike.<\/p>\n

Beginning of the Phil Foden Era?<\/h3>\n

With the talent that Foden possesses, he would’ve been forgiven for having looked elsewhere<\/a> for greater opportunity. Jadon Sancho<\/a> did jut that. Foden, though, has patiently persisted at Manchester City, whom he supported growing up. The Stockport-born midfielder may be set to reap the rewards for his patience.<\/p>\n

City legend<\/a> David Silva is to depart<\/a> at the end of the season<\/a>. It will be the end of an era for the Citizens. Though, they could already have his replacement on the books.<\/p>\n

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola appears convinced, despite only handing Foden his fourth Premier League start of the season. “We don’t need to spend a pound to replace David Silva. We have Phil Foden in that position,” he said after a 5-0 win<\/a> over Burnley.<\/p>\n

Guardiola has the perfect chance to give Foden all the preparation he needs ahead of what could be a big season.<\/p>\n

Manchester City have very little to play for in the league. They are 20 points behind league leaders and champions-elect Liverpool<\/a> and nine clear of third-place Leicester City<\/a>. They have nothing to lose and very little to gain, giving ample opportunity to allow Foden to continue to showcase his talents.<\/p>\n

Euro’s Chance?<\/h3>\n

With Euro 2020 now taking place in the summer of 2021, Phil Foden has a year to establish himself in the Manchester City midfield and claim a spot in the England squad.<\/p>\n

He won’t be the only one looking to take advantage of the prolonged start date. On the other side of Manchester<\/a>, Dean Henderson<\/a>, currently on loan at Sheffield United<\/a>, will fancy his chances of edging Everton<\/a> goalkeeper Jordan Pickford<\/a> as Gareth Southgate’s number one.<\/p>\n
