After a 30 year wait, Liverpool<\/a> are finally on the verge of breaking their title curse. The Reds need just six points out of a remaining 27 left available to secure the title. And, with 25 points separating themselves and Manchester City<\/a>, the title is as good as done in the eyes of many in the football world.\u00a0<\/span>Liverpool should not become complacent, however, and will know that there is still work to be done. This work recommences in the Merseyside Derby this Sunday. <\/span><\/p>\n

The game provides Everton<\/a> with the chance to delay Liverpool’s coronation a further two games; this is an opportunity they will be desperate to take.<\/span><\/p>\n

Liverpool Looking to Take Crucial Step Towards Title in Merseyside Derby<\/span><\/h2>\n

Everton’s Chance for Derby Revenge\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

This season can’t have been an easy one for Everton fans. Their arch-rivals have stormed towards the league title whilst their own team flounders in mid-table mediocrity, but after a three-month break, they have the chance for revenge. After losing to Liverpool not once but twice by an aggregate score of 6-2 this season, the Toffees’ will be desperate to take revenge and end the curse of Merseyside Derby defeats.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It would be their first win over Liverpool in the league since 2010; this would create a memorable dent in the almost impenetrable armour of Liverpool. Now is perhaps the best time to face Liverpool, too, as they look to regain match sharpness. It is an opportunity that Carlo Ancelotti and co must take to be considered candidates for a place in next season’s Europa League.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Liverpool, though, will be keen to stay on course to wrap up the title against Crystal Palace<\/a> and further humiliate their noisy neighbours in the process.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carlo Ancelotti told Sky Sports<\/a> that Andre Gomes<\/a> will have “no problem” when it comes to starting against Liverpool. The Italian also stated that a late call is set to be made regarding the fitness of Fabian Delph<\/a> and Yerry Mina<\/a>. It has also been confirmed that Theo Walcott<\/a> will miss Sunday’s Derby. Ancelotti will be pleased to see Gomes return to the side in what is a massive game for the Toffees.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Liverpool\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

As for Liverpool, the club have reported no injury concerns. Jurgen Klopp can choose from a fully fit squad. The German stated via the Liverpool website<\/a>: “at the moment, nobody is really ruled out for Sunday, we have to see. A few trained more a few trained less.”<\/p>\n

Liverpool looked sharp against Blackburn and will be raring to go on Sunday. The Reds have it all to play for as they look to take the biggest step yet towards their first-ever Premier League title<\/a>; a title win Everton will be eager to delay.<\/span><\/p>\n
