Dani Olmo scored a brace for RB Leipzig to secure victory at Hoffenheim. The basement battle went the way of Werder Bremen as they put five past Paderborn.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich are on the cusp of league glory after beating Borussia Monchengladbach. There were vital wins elsewhere for Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, FC Augsburg, and Union Berlin

Dani Olmo’s Brace Secures RB Leipzig at Hoffenheim

It’s Three Goals in Three Games for Dani Olmo

Dani Olmo’s quickfire brace secured RB Leipzig victory at Hoffenheim. The result sees Leipzig maintain their excellent unbeaten run and leave them on the verge of securing a place in the top four.

It’s a disappointment for Hoffenheim who slump to defeat in Matthias Kaltenbach’s first game in temporary charge. The game’s major turning point arrived in the opening ten minutes.

Hoffenheim thought they were getting a penalty when Peter Gulasci fouled Munas Dabbur. However, as they were about to take it, VAR intervened and deemed there was a handball in the build-up from Christoph Baumgartner.

Hoffenheim’s anger soon carried when RB Leipzig took the lead just moments later courtesy of Olmo. The Spanish playmaker finished off a terrific counter-attack slotting past Oliver Baumann. It soon got better for RB Leipzig and Olmo as they sealed three points just two minutes later.

From a similar position to his first, Olmo slotted past Baumann to ensure Leipzig extend their unbeaten run to twelve games. Hoffenheim battled hard but could not find a way past Gulasci who was outstanding for Julen Naglesmann’s team.

RB Leipzig remain third and are on the verge of securing their place in the Bundesliga top four. Hoffenheim stay seventh but their four-match unbeaten run comes to an end.

As Dani Olmo Fired Leipzig to Victory, the Basement Battle Defeat Left Paderborn on the Brink

Paderborn extended their winless run to twelve games after losing the basement battle to Werder Bremen. The visitors were in rampant form as they put five past the Bundesliga’s bottom club. The heavy defeat leaves Paderborn on the brink of relegation. Bremen meanwhile secure a third consecutive away win something they have not done for over a decade.

The visitors were flying and should have opened the scoring when they were given a penalty following Jamilu Collins handball. Yuya Osako saw his penalty saved by Lucas Zingerle but the visitors did find the breakthrough moments later courtesy of Davy Klaasen who planted a header into the corner.

By half time, the visitors were comfortably three goals up thanks to Klaasen and Osako who made up for his earlier miss. Bremen continued to dominate after the break and soon added a fourth courtesy of Max Eggestein.

The home side pulled one back through Abdelhamid Sabiri, but they conceded a fifth in stoppage time as Niclas Fullkrug scored just his third Bundesliga goal of the season.

The result leaves Paderborn rock bottom and on the verge of relegation. Bremen remain 17th but are now level on points with Fortuna Dusseldorf who occupy the relegation play-off spot.

LWOF Bundesliga Predictions

LWOF’s original predictions are in bold on the left, while the actual results are on the right.

Hoffenheim 2-2 RB Leipzig – Hoffenheim 0-2 RB Leipzig

Bayern Munich 3-1 Borussia Monchengladbach – Bayern Munich 2-1 Borussia Monchengladbach

Fortuna Dusseldorf 1-2 Borussia Dortmund – Fortuna Dusseldorf 0-1 Borussia Dortmund

Hertha Berlin 2-0 Eintracht Frankfurt – Hertha Berlin 1-4 Eintracht Frankfurt

Koln 2-1 Union Berlin – Koln 1-2 Union Berlin

Paderborn 1-2 Werder Bremen – Paderborn 1-5 Werder Bremen

Wolfsburg 1-0 Freiburg – Wolfsburg 2-2 Freiburg

Mainz 2-1 FC Augsburg – Mainz 0-1 FC Augsburg

Schalke 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen – Schalke 1-1 Bayer Leverkusen

Up Next

Round 32 in the Bundesliga is a mid-week round of matches taking place on Tuesday 16th June and Wednesday 17th June.

Tuesday’s Games – Kick-off at 19:30 pm unless stated

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Wolfsburg – 17:30pm

SC Freiburg vs Hertha Berlin

Union Berlin vs SC Paderborn

Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich

Wednesday’s Games – Kick-off at 19:30pm unless stated

Bayer Leverkusen vs Koln

Borussia Dortmund vs Mainz

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Schalke – 17:30pm

FC Augsburg vs Hoffenheim

RB Leipzig vs Fortuna Dusseldorf

Main Photo
Embed from Getty Images

Another pulsating round of Bundesliga matches have come to an end, with plenty of talking points and exciting action.
