Adi H\u00fctter<\/a>\u2019s Eintracht Frankfurt travelled to the Allianz Arena, losing to Bayern Munich<\/a> by two goals to one in the DFB Pokal semi-final. Ivan Peri\u0161i\u0107<\/a> opened the scoring midway through the first half. Second-half substitute Danny da Costa<\/a> equalised for Frankfurt before Robert Lewandowski<\/a> grabbed the Bayern winner in the 75th minute.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Game of Two Halves<\/h3>\n

The two sides met in the Bundesliga last month and the end result was the same. Just as in yesterday\u2019s cup match, Frankfurt sat back in the first half, inviting pressure, but then came out much more aggressive after the half time team talk. In May, Bayern led by three going into the 60th minute, but Frankfurt woke up and scored two quick succession goals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Adi H\u00fctter might regret beginning so conservative in both matches, as in both meetings with Bayern, Frankfurt played a much higher line and began crafting scoring chances in the second half. Fans will be left feeling disappointed that Die Adler<\/em> did not play as aggressive and offensive throughout the entire match.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bayer Leverkusen Defeated 1. FC Saarbr\u00fccken <\/span>in the other DFB Pokal Semi Final<\/h3>\n

On Tuesday, Bayer Leverkusen defeated Regionalliga<\/em> side <\/span>1. FC Saarbr\u00fccken <\/span>in the other DFB Pokal semi-final. Goals from Lucas Alario<\/a>, Moussa Diaby<\/a>, and Karim Bellarabi<\/a> sealed the victory over the fourth division club. Saarbr\u00fccken <\/span>shockingly defeated both 1. FC K\u00f6ln and Fortuna D\u00fcsseldorf on their path to the semi-final. Leverkusen were not just at an advantage on paper, but this was Saarbr\u00fccken’s <\/span>first match since March. Unlike Germany\u2019s top three leagues, the Regionalliga<\/em> will not restart.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bayern Munich Will Face Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Pokal Final<\/h3>\n

On July 4, in Berlin\u2019s Olympiastadion<\/em>, Bayern will face Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Pokal final. Leverkusen boast a squad of young prospects and experienced veterans. Super talent Kai Havertz<\/a> just turned 20, Paulinho<\/a> and Diaby are 19, and Florian Wirtz<\/a> is only 17. These youngsters are supported by the older Bender brothers, Kevin Volland<\/a>, and Charles Ar\u00e1nguiz<\/a>. The match could be Havertz\u2019s final appearance for Leverkusen, as transfer rumours have been rampant as of late<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bayern squad requires little introduction, as the usual suspects Lewandowski, Kingsley Coman<\/a>, Thiago<\/a>, Joshua Kimmich<\/a>, and the lighting fast Alphonso Davies<\/a> will lead the attack. Bayern are the clear favourites, but the exciting young squad that Peter Bosz<\/a> has built at Leverkusen will surely make things interesting.<\/span><\/p>\n
