Clubs in the Football League could end up paying out a total of \u00a321 Million in season ticket refunds.<\/p>\n
There was a quarter of the season remaining prior to the postponement of English Football, which is the reason for the large payouts.<\/p>\n
League One and Two announced that their seasons were curtailed<\/a>. Meanwhile, the Championship will play out the remaining nine games behind close doors.<\/p>\n The Daily Mail<\/a> reported that clubs in the Championship could pay out as much as \u00a313 Million, with League One and Two sides paying \u00a38 Million.<\/p>\n There are many concerns which many EFL sides are facing. One of them is whether next season will be able to start by the end of August.<\/p>\n Another issue is if teams can afford to continue. Some League One and Two sides rely on ticket sales as their main source of income, thus the impact of no fans could be crippling.<\/p>\n EFL Chairman Rick Parry believes there could be a \u00a3200m left in the EFL, which could see teams go bust. He said<\/a>: “The aim is to make sure all clubs survive. We will be working 24 hours a day to make sure they do.” (Source BBC Sport)<\/p>\n Many sides have already written to supporters, about not claiming the refund.<\/p>\n It’s been somewhat of a frustrating 24 hours for the lower Leagues. It was announced yesterday that League One and Two’s campaign were ended.<\/p>\n Swindon Town, Crewe Alexandra and Plymouth Argyle <\/a>have all been promoted to League One, while Stevenage and Macclesfield Town<\/a> await the EFL’s potential charge of The Silkmen. That could determine who finishes bottom, and is ultimately relegated to the National League.<\/p>\n In League One, Tranmere have been relegated, despite being three points adrift of 20th place Wimbledon.<\/p>\n Rotherham United have been promoted to the Championship alongside league Winners, Coventry City.
