Former Nottingham Forest<\/a> striker Matty Fryatt is suing his former employers with claims that they mismanaged the injury which ended his career.<\/p>\n

‘They Don’t Want to Take Responsibility’<\/h3>\n

The claim arises after Fryatt alleges the club was negligent in treating an Achilles problem suffered during the 2014-15 season.<\/p>\n

He is set to take the Championship outfit to court with the hope of seeking substantial compensation.<\/p>\n

Fryatt says his pleas were ignored and he was pressured to play through the injury – ultimately leading to his early retirement in 2018.<\/p>\n

The former Forest striker says the experience has affected his mental health as well as physical wellbeing.<\/p>\n

Nottingham Forest have denied any wrong-doing and say they will be “defending” their actions.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Press Association (via Sky Sports), Fryatt said: “It feels like my career has been taken away from me.<\/p>\n

“There was no care. You were an object. I was put under pressure to play and forcing me to play caused the damage which ended my career.<\/p>\n

“I feel sick with it all, frustrated, sadness. I’ve felt alone, abandoned and let down. It hurts. How was I left in this situation?<\/p>\n

“It’s something which shouldn’t go on and I wouldn’t want it to happen to anyone else.<\/p>\n

“Forest’s lack of understanding and their ignorance to it is so hard to take.<\/p>\n

“They don’t want to take responsibility and for it to be dismissed the whole time, it’s like they weren’t listening to what I was saying. I find it appalling.<\/p>\n

“It was like, ‘take the pills, get through it and you’ll be fine’. I was taking pills in the warm-up, before the game, half-time. I wasn’t thinking about the football, just ‘when will it be over?’<\/p>\n

“They didn’t listen to the injury or treat it as serious. I was telling them how much pain I was in.”<\/p>\n

Fryatt, who did not play in his final two seasons at the City Ground, made 25 appearances for Forest.<\/p>\n
