Ben Foster<\/a> has signed a new two-year contract with Watford<\/a> to remain with the Premier League<\/a> side until 2022.<\/p>\n

Veteran Goalkeeper<\/h3>\n

The goalkeeper has signed a new contract to see him remain at Vicarage Road until the age of 39.<\/p>\n

Foster, 37, has made nearly 150 appearances in two spells with the Hornets – he made his debut while on loan in 2005.<\/p>\n

Watford, in 17th, have relied upon Foster greatly this season. The former England shot-stopper has made 89 saves this season, ahead of their return against Leicester City<\/a> on Saturday, June 20.<\/p>\n

The Hornets’ are above the relegation zone by the skin of their teeth.<\/p>\n

Nigel Pearson<\/a>‘s side are level on points with third-from-bottom Bournemouth<\/a> but will avoid relegation by just one goal as it stands.<\/p>\n

‘Itching To Be Let Off The Leash’<\/h3>\n

Ahead of the Hornets’ Premier League return in a few days, assistant head coach Craig Shakespeare<\/a> said the players cannot wait to get back to action.<\/p>\n

Premier League sides recently returned to training and things have gradually stepped up.<\/p>\n

Ahead of their fixture against Leicester City, Shakespeare said: “They’ve given us everything since they have come back.<\/p>\n

“They’ve come back fit, really hungry and if anything we’ve had to rein them in a bit.<\/p>\n

“These lads are itching to be let off the leash so I can reassure everyone that we will be ready.”<\/p>\n

“The mindset has to be now that we have nine games to go and we know what we’ve got to do,” Shakespeare added. “That was always the focus and now we have to refocus.<\/p>\n

“What happened with the pandemic quite rightly overtook everyone’s mindset.<\/p>\n

“We are back and our job is to now make sure the players are organised and ready to win football matches. That’s what it’s about: winning.<\/p>\n

“We knew the situation before we stopped and we know the situation now.<\/p>\n

“We have to make sure the focus is on keeping this club in the Premier League.”<\/p>\n
