Amazon Prime will make their four Premier League matches free-to-air when football returns later this month. A subscription will not be required to watch the matches on the web-based platform. Free-to-air matches will also be shown on the BBC, while the others will be broadcast on Sky Sports and BT Sport.<\/p>\n
In total, four broadcasters have been given the rights to show the remaining 92 Premier League matches. England’s top-flight is set to return on June 17 following its suspension due to the Coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n
Thirty-three of the matches will be free-to-air between BBC Sport and Amazon Prime, leaving the rest to be shown on Sky and BT, who usually have the rights to Premier League matches anyway.<\/p>\n
Viewers were given their first taste of football on Amazon Prime over Christmas 2019. They showed a midweek set of matches in early December before coming back on Boxing Day where every single match was available to stream on the service.<\/p>\n
This will also be the first time since the BBC has shown any top-flight football since 1988, with the exception of highlights on Match of the Day. Previously, the only time teams were shown in a full match on the BBC was if they were selected for FA Cup broadcast.<\/p>\n
In addition, Sky Sports have confirmed that 25 of their matches will be made free-to-air<\/a>, including the Merseyside Derby between Everton<\/a> and Liverpool<\/a>\u00a0on the first weekend back.<\/p>\n Managing director of Prime Video Sport Europe, Alex Green, said: “Like the rest of the country, we are excited to see the Premier League return to action.<\/p>\n “We will be making all four of Amazon Prime Video’s additional fixtures in the 2019-20 season available free of charge; fans will not need a Prime membership to view the games on Prime Video.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Main Photo<\/p>\n
