Mauricio Pochettino<\/a> may go down as one of the best Tottenham<\/a> managers in Premier League<\/a> history; he took them from mid-table staleness to the excitement of title challenges. But, the fact is, his reign will always be tainted by the lack of trophies. Pochettino’s side always seemed within touching distance of success before it was snatched away by a better, more prepared team.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Even Pochettino’s biggest achievement of reaching the Champions League<\/a> final ended in defeat before facing the sack just months later. And now, months after his Spurs departure, Mauricio Pochettino desires a team of winners at his next club to finally end his trophy curse. He told Spanish TV via the Express<\/a>: “That moment will arrive when we have to win a trophy.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The Argentine manager has been heavily linked with the Newcastle<\/a> job ahead of the Magpies’ takeover.<\/span><\/p>\n

The takeover will allow Newcastle to rebuild what is an average squad into potential top-six challengers.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s a project that could see many world-class players grace St James’ Park; players that will want a top manager to perform under.<\/span><\/p>\n

And, unfortunately for Steve Bruce<\/a>, he is not that man. Instead, a manager of Pochettino’s calibre will likely be persuaded to take part in the ambitious project.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Chance Of Success Outside Of England?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Pochettino has now managed in both Spain and England where he took smaller sides to heights they had previously failed to reach.<\/span><\/p>\n

And maybe that’s why he has failed in the trophy department; he has never been in charge of the best team, but instead the team that needs the biggest rebuild.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Pep Guardiola<\/a> has won many trophies throughout his illustrious career due to his obvious managerial expertise, but also because he has only taken charge of historic serial winners. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Spaniard has always been given the job of continuing the cycle of success, instead of rebuilding it.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the type of job Pochettino needs to take for the betterment of his career.<\/span><\/p>\n

With Maurizio Sarri struggling at Juventus<\/a>, Pochettino could well have the chance to offer his resume to the Italian giants in the summer; giving him the chance to fulfil his trophy desires.<\/span><\/p>\n

Either way, however, the former Spurs boss needs trophies to cement his place amongst the worlds elite, trophies that he may find outside of England.<\/span><\/p>\n
