In what could be deemed one of the most surprising transfer rumours of the summer, Italian<\/a> giants AC Milan<\/a> have shown a keen interest in signing Burnley<\/a> midfielder Jeff Hendrick<\/a> on a free transfer, according to Sky Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Out of Contract at Turf Moor<\/h3>\n

Signed from Derby County<\/a> in August 2016 for a then club-record fee of \u00a310.5m, Hendrick has been a fantastic servant for The Clarets during his four-year tenure at the club.<\/p>\n

With 139 appearances for the Lancashire outfit, initial talks with Hendrick over a new contract remain in place, as Sean Dyche’s<\/a> side are hopeful of keeping him at Turf Moor.<\/p>\n

Hendrick has resumed training with Burnley, however, the talk<\/a> of a move to illustrious AC will no doubt be in the forefront of his mind.<\/p>\n

What will Hendrick Bring to AC Milan?<\/h3>\n

Just like their city rivals, AC Milan now plan on tapping into the English market for talent, most evidently with their pursuit of Wigan defender Antonee Robinson in January, a deal which ultimately fell through.<\/p>\n

54 caps for the Republic of Ireland, Hendrick’s performances were instrumental in helping his national side to reach the Round of 16 at Euro 2016, where they narrowly missed out on a Quarter-final place to hosts France.<\/p>\n

A slick midfield player with an eye for a pass, the Irishman is also no stranger to the scoresheet, as seen by his thunderous volley<\/a> vs Chelsea last April.<\/p>\n

AC Milan will no doubt feel they are getting a bargain here, with Hendrick being a free agent at the end of June.<\/p>\n

His current wage is also undeniably affordable for such a profit-rich club, and if this proposed deal goes ahead, Hendrick would be the first Irish player to wear the famous black & red stripes of the Rossoneri, since Paddy Sloan in 1948.<\/p>\n

Reports suggest several other Premier League<\/a> clubs have kept a keen eye on Hendrick in recent weeks, however, the seven-time Champions League<\/a> winners look the most likely suitors for the 28-year-old Irishman.<\/p>\n
