Exciting teenager Abdi Sharif<\/a> has agreed a contract extension at Liverpool<\/a>. The 19-year-old is one of Liverpool\u2019s brightest prospects, but a serious knee injury has seen the 2019\/20 season wiped out. However, Liverpool have extended his deal and it continues Sharif\u2019s long-standing relationship with Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Abdi Sharif Signs Liverpool Contract Extension<\/h2>\n

Liverpool announced via their website<\/a> that Abdi Sharif has agreed a contract extension. The Reds have extended Sharif\u2019s contract by a further twelve months following a year which has seen Sharif miss the entire season through injury.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old is seen as one of Liverpool\u2019s brightest prospects having climbed through the academy. He had already achieved success with the Reds helping the Under 18s win the FA Cup youth cup.<\/p>\n

Sharif has been with the club since the age of six and an official academy player since the age of nine. He suffered a serious knee injury after signing his first professional contract. Sharif is currently continuing his rehabilitation and is hopeful of making a return to football soon.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Liverpool website about his contract extension, Sharif said \u201cIt meant the world to me, signing a new extension\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think you get the opportunity to play for an amazing football club like Liverpool too often, so I was excited to sign.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe staff that\u2019s been around me throughout my injury, I can\u2019t thank them enough, there\u2019s so many to name.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to thank all of them for being there for me and I just can\u2019t wait to get back at it and give everything that I have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liverpool Continuing to Utilise Their Academy<\/h3>\n

Sharif\u2019s contract extension highlights Liverpool growing intentions of utilising their academy. Their academy has been hugely successful over the years bringing through the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and more recently Trent Alexander-Arnold.<\/p>\n

Sharif could be yet another talent to breakthrough into the first team in years to come. His contract extension highlights the faith Liverpool have in him and their academy.<\/p>\n
