Manchester City<\/a> will need to pay \u20ac50 million to secure Bayer Leverkusen<\/a> midfielder Leon Bailey,<\/a> according to Christian Falk.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

The Jamaican midfielder is being touted as a replacement for City player Leroy San\u00e9.<\/a> The German winger looks set to transfer to Bayern Munich<\/a> this summer.<\/p>\n

REPORT: Leon Bailey Could Cost Manchester City \u20ac50 Million<\/h2>\n

Will Bailey Replace San\u00e9?<\/h3>\n

Leroy San\u00e9 wants to leave City for Munich. According to recent reports from Bild<\/a>, the German winger will give up 30% of his wages to secure a move to the German champions in the coming months.<\/p>\n

With San\u00e9’s departure imminent, Citizen’s boss Pep Guardiola<\/a> reportedly wants to sign Bailey as his replacement.<\/p>\n

However, the 22-year-old midfielder will prove costly for City with Leverkusen. The Bundesliga club have\u00a0 placed a \u20ac50 million price tag<\/a> on the Jamaica international.<\/p>\n

Bailey’s Flexibility Appeals to Guardiola<\/h3>\n

Bailey appears to be a suitable replacement for San\u00e9. Although San\u00e9’s prefers to play on the left-wing, Bailey can play in both left and the right-wing roles. He also came on as a substitute to make a cameo appearance as a striker earlier in the season.<\/p>\n

This type of flexibility would suit City’s quick, inter-changing positions in the final third. Guardiola may be able to use Bailey to get more\u00a0 Kevin De Bruyne<\/a>, Raheem Sterling<\/a> and Gabriel Jesus<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old scored seven goals and made one assist in 25 appearances for Leverkusen in all competitions this season.<\/p>\n

Competition From Arsenal<\/h3>\n

Despite City’s interest in Bailey, reports from Bild<\/a> suggest that Arsenal<\/a> may also be in the running for the 22-year-old.<\/p>\n

However, City appears to be leading the race as their superior finances could prove to be the difference in paying the \u20ac50 million transfer fee.<\/p>\n

Bailey’s current contract with Leverkusen expires in 2023. Therefore, a substantial fee will be required to prise him away from the Bundesliga club.<\/p>\n
