Bournemouth<\/a> have confirmed that one player in their squad has tested positive for Coronavirus.<\/p>\n

Latest Announcement After Fresh Tests<\/h3>\n

The announcement comes after the latest round of testing in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

From 996 tests conducted, only two members of staff across all 20 clubs had tested positive for the virus.<\/p>\n

In the last round of testing, there were 776 members of staff were tested, with six returning positive. The Premier League has<\/a> confirmed that these six cases are not included in the latest round of figures.<\/p>\n

Testing is part of the protocol of the Premier League’s plans to resume top-flight action. It is unclear, as of yet, whether there needs to be no new cases. However, players are continuing to train with a view to action returning in June.<\/p>\n

A return to training, however, is also being met with caution. Both Watford’s<\/a> Troy Deeney<\/a> and Chelsea’s<\/a> N’Golo Kante<\/a> have both presented concerns about the return to football.<\/p>\n

Club Statement<\/h3>\n

Bournemouth elected not to name the player out of respect to him and his family.<\/p>\n

A statement on the club website<\/a> read: “AFC Bournemouth can confirm that one of its players has tested positive for Covid-19, following the club\u2019s second round of testing.<\/p>\n

“Medical confidentiality means the player\u2019s name will not be disclosed, and the club asks for this to be respected.<\/p>\n

“In line with Premier League protocols regarding positive tests, he will self-isolate for a period of seven days before being tested again at a later date.<\/p>\n

“Following strict adherence of the Premier League\u2019s return to training regulations, the club\u2019s training ground remains a safe working environment for players and backroom staff, who will continue to be tested for Covid-19 twice per week.”<\/p>\n

The other Premier League staff member who has tested positive is yet to be named.<\/p>\n
