League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon<\/a> have asked season-ticket holders to waive away a refund if the season is not completed.<\/p>\n

The division is still yet to be decided how it will conclude, with the Dons looking at surviving relegation if the season cannot continue.<\/p>\n

AFC Wimbledon Hoping Fans Won’t ask for Season-Ticket Refunds<\/h2>\n

League One Campaign<\/h3>\n

The Dons have had a dreadful season, and sit just one place and three points above Tranmere Rovers who occupy the final relegation spot. Tranmere do have a game in hand but have a far worse goal difference than Wimbledon. Above the Dons are Rochdale and rivals MK Dons<\/a>, with the latter just two points ahead.<\/p>\n

The league is still awaiting a decision as to how to complete the season after last weeks meeting failed to reach a clear conclusion. Further talks are due to take place this week, but the club firmly believes that the remaining games will be abandoned or okayed behind closed doors.<\/p>\n

Club Statement<\/h3>\n

This afternoon, the club released the following statement<\/a>: \u201cMany of you have already contacted us and generously offered to waive your entitlement to a refund.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is money we could have never budgeted in advance for because nobody could have foreseen the coronavirus crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour contribution simply underlines how deeply you understand, as owners, how best to protect and help our club when we need it most.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the example you have set, we now respectfully invite all our season ticket holders to consider donating the remainder of your season ticket for this season by not asking for a refund.<\/p>\n

\u201cNaturally, we entirely understand that some of you have suffered considerable financial hardship and, of course, we will fully respect your right to a refund should you fall into that category.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moving Foward<\/h3>\n

Next season was due to be one of huge significance for AFC Wimbledon. The club are due to move into their new home at Plough Lane – the site where the former club played – but there is talk of next season being played without fans.<\/a><\/p>\n

Naturally, safety comes first, but it would be a bitter blow for the club and it’s supporters if they’re unable to watch from their new stadium.<\/p>\n
