The Manchester United<\/a> pursuit of Jadon Sancho<\/a> is not going to get any easier due to the coronavirus pandemic, says<\/a> German journalist Raphael Honigstein for the Evening Standard.<\/p>\n

Still Desperate for Sancho Despite Virus Crisis<\/h3>\n

United are still very much in the market for Sancho despite the virus-caused financial crises.<\/p>\n

The Englishman has been outstanding for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 14 goals and assisting 15. And a partnership with new signing Erling Braut H\u00e5land<\/a> has proven lucrative.<\/p>\n

The coronavirus brought a halt to Sancho\u2019s thus far fruitful season and has also induced much financial difficulty. As one of the richest clubs in the world, however, \u00a0the Red Devils rely far less on match-day revenue streams than other clubs and can use that to their advantage in their chase of Sancho.<\/p>\n

While United may seem to have the upper hand, Honigstein believes that BVB are equally well equipped for the fight over Sancho come the summer.<\/p>\n

Honigstein\u2019s Belief<\/h3>\n

As reported by the Evening Standard, he said: “There\u2019s a view that I\u2019ve seen reflected in some of the media coverage that Dortmund are desperate for cash and will sell, and the prices will come down, and United will be in a position to swoop \u2013 but I\u2019m not sure that\u2019s 100 per cent accurate.<\/p>\n

“There\u2019s a bigger chance that Dortmund will say: \u2018You know what, the market is depressed.\u2019 If you have a lovely house to sell and you can\u2019t sell it this summer, why would you?<\/p>\n

“The only thing working in United\u2019s favour is that his contract is running down and they could make the argument that, there\u2019s a discount to be had.<\/p>\n

“But I would expect Dortmund, as they have often done, to find some kind of agreement with the player if that is the case, that they would maybe extend the contract by another year just to protect the value, the way they did with [Christian] Pulisic as well.<\/p>\n

“Eventually it\u2019s down to United; if United feel that they can get through this crisis relatively unscathed \u2013 and everyone expects the transfer window to be much later than usual \u2013 they might be in a position in August or September to say: \u2018You know what, yes we are in the Champions League, football is coming back, we can do this now, or maybe we can only do it in January.<\/p>\n

“But I don\u2019t think Dortmund will make the mistake of somehow rushing this because they need the cash \u2013 they are not in that position.”<\/p>\n
