The man who made a much-needed difference at Manchester United<\/a> recently,\u00a0Bruno Fernandes<\/a>, is now having his transfer investigated by FIFA after Sampdoria, for whom he played before Sporting Lisbon, made a complaint about how much they received for the transfer, according to James Ducker of the Telegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bruno Fernandes was a player United desperately needed in the first half of the season.<\/p>\n

Before signing him, they had greatly lacked any sort of creativity in their midfield with Paul Pogba<\/a> out with a long term ankle injury. Furthermore, with Scott McTominay<\/a> also stuck on the sidelines, a catastrophic partnership between fellow countrymen of Brazil Andreas Pereira<\/a> and Fred<\/a> attempted, and failed, to command the game from the middle of the park.<\/p>\n

While Fred has gone on to work well with experienced Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic<\/a>, they still didn\u2019t have the creative spark that was so desperately required to find some success in what had been a roller coaster ride of a season so far.<\/p>\n

In came Bruno, however, as the Portuguese playmaker joined at the end of January for a fee of \u00a345 million, which could rise to upwards of \u00a365 million.<\/p>\n

He was irreplaceable straight from his debut and since that match, the Red Devils are unbeaten, with victories against the likes of Manchester City<\/a> and Chelsea<\/a>. Such an important part of this United side now, Fernandes will be central to their success for a number of years to come as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer<\/a> tries to build a title-winning side to challenge teams like Pep Guardiola<\/a>\u2019s Manchester City and Liverpool<\/a>, who are arguably the best team in Europe at the moment.<\/p>\n

What FIFA Are Investigating<\/h3>\n

Sampdoria sold Fernandes in 2017 for around \u00a38 million, and claim that they are now due \u00a34 million as part of a sell-on clause they had with Sporting Lisbon which would entitle them to 10% of the profits made on the player.<\/p>\n

The matter is now being further investigated by FIFA, but luckily for United, they are not part of this with it simply being a monetary claim filed by Sampdoria.<\/p>\n

In a statement, a Fifa spokesperson said: \u201cWe can confirm that on April 3, 2020, the Italian club, UC Sampdoria, lodged a claim with Fifa against the Portuguese club, Sporting Clube de Portugal, related to financial obligations set out in the contract corresponding to the transfer of the Portuguese player, Bruno Miguel Bores Fernandes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe matter is currently being investigated and consequently we cannot provide further comments.”<\/p>\n
