The Bundesliga is allowed to start in the second half of May. Christian Falk<\/a> claims that the “league can decide the date in the time window itself.”<\/p>\n

REPORT: Bundesliga Allowed to Start in Second Half of May<\/h2>\n

This will the first major European League to return to action. The players have already returned to a form of training<\/a> in small groups. Now, they will be able to return to some form of football in the Bundesliga. The league will be played out with no spectators<\/a>. Rigorous testing is already in place for the players.<\/p>\n

Chancellor Angela Merkel has been slowly relaxing restrictions. This also includes the reopening of all shops, and also a gradual reopening of schools. As part of this, individual states must react quickly to any surge in infections.<\/p>\n

According to DPA, via the BBC, “[i]f new infections rise to above 50 people in every 100,000 over a seven-day period, then in the affected areas the reopening has to be reversed.”<\/p>\n

Therefore, the Bundesliga could be quickly shut down again if national cases of coronavirus raise once again.<\/p>\n

There have already been ten positive cases<\/a> out of 1,724 tests across the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2.<\/p>\n

Prior to the restart of the Bundesliga, there will be another two weeks of a “type of training camp.” This will serve as a quarantine before teams meet in the competition.<\/p>\n

All Left to Play For<\/h3>\n

Bayern Munich<\/a> currently top the table<\/a> on 55 points, their nearest rivals Borussia Dortmund four points behind. The top five is tight; four points separate fifth and second place.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the restart of the Bundesliga will give the bottom three a chance to change their fortunes. Paderborn have a lot of work to do with just 16 points. Werder Bremen only have two more. Meanwhile, Fortuna Dusseldorf sit four points from Mainz.<\/p>\n

Thus, all is left to play for in the Bundesliga, scheduled to start later this month. The competition should ideally be completed by the 30th of June.<\/p>\n
