Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alc\u00e2ntara<\/a> will sign a contract extension with the Bundesliga club later this week, Christian Falk<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

Negotiations between Bayern’s representatives and the Spanish midfielder took place in recent weeks, but they look set to conclude this week.<\/p>\n

Thiago Alc\u00e2ntara Set to Sign New Contract at Bayern Munich<\/h2>\n

New Deal for Thiago<\/h3>\n

Thiago’s current deal was set to expire next summer in June 2021. However, the length of the Spanish midfielder’s new contract is yet to be disclosed.<\/p>\n

Negotiations between Munich’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic<\/a> and board member Oliver Kahn<\/a> took place with Thiago recently. Ongoing discussions also went ahead between Thiago and manager Hans-Dieter Flick<\/a> recently. All parties involved reportedly reached a positive agreement on Thiago’s new contract.<\/p>\n

End of Contract Speculation<\/h3>\n

Speaking to Catalan news outlet La Vanguardia<\/a> earlier this week, Thiago expressed his desire to see out his career at Die Bayern.<\/em><\/p>\n

He said: “I’ve been in Munich for almost eight years and never even thought that I would play in German football.<\/p>\n

“There have to be many things. That you are at your level.\u00a0Maybe the club is suddenly looking for a guy on your ninety-meter site. But it would be a wonderful club to finish a career.”<\/p>\n

Munich Stalwart<\/h3>\n

Thiago played 32 games for Munich before the Bundesliga was suspended in March as a result of the coronavirus. He scored three goals and made two assists in all competitions.<\/p>\n

The Spanish midfielder became a regular with Die Bayern<\/em> after joining from Barcelona<\/a> in 2013. He has won Bundesliga titles on six occasions and lifted the DFK Pokal and German Super Cup three times with Munich.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old’s extension is the latest of a number of negotiations at the club<\/a>. Thomas Muller<\/a> signed a new contract with the club until 2023. However, negotiations continue with Manuel Neuer<\/a> and David Alaba<\/a>.<\/p>\n
