Arsenal will return to a limited form of training at their London Colney facilities starting this week.<\/p>\n
A club spokesperson relayed the details on Saturday (via BBC<\/a>).<\/p>\n “Players will be permitted access to our London Colney training grounds,” a club spokesperson said. “Access will be limited, carefully managed and social distancing will be maintained.<\/p>\n “All Colney buildings remain closed. Players will travel alone, do their individual workout and return home.”<\/p>\n Thus, the players will take up their individual programmes at the training ground. This is still a limited form of training. Previously, most Premier League players were doing workouts at home.<\/p>\n Currently, a Premier League restart is mooted<\/a> for the 8th of June. However, previous restart dates have already been pushed back once. But, if the league is to restart, then the players need to maintain a baseline level of fitness. This is why they will be returning to training.<\/p>\n If the season is to resume, it is likely to be played behind closed doors. There would be the aim of finishing the season in a five-week period (Sky Sports<\/a>).<\/p>\n Arsenal currently sit ninth in the Premier League table; they are one point behind rivals Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> with a game in hand. They sit eight points behind Chelsea<\/a> in fourth spot.<\/p>\n Furthermore, the Gunners are still in the FA Cup. Their match against Sheffield United in the sixth round is yet to be played. This tie would take place at Bramall Lane.<\/p>\n In other leagues around the world, there has been a varying reaction to the crisis. The Eredivisie<\/a> was declared null and void. Belgium’s Pro League season was cancelled; Club Brugge were declared as winners with a 15 point lead. However, Serie A<\/a>, Ligue 1<\/a>, and other leagues are yet to continue or cancel.
