Real Madrid<\/a> will sell or release high-profile players this summer according to Mario Cortegana<\/span> from Spanish news provider AS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The hierarchy at the club,<\/i>\u00a0including manager Zinedine Zidane<\/a>, must free up funds in order to have a chance at securing their summer transfer targets.<\/p>\n

Real Madrid Ready to Axe Key Players<\/h2>\n

High-Profile Departures<\/h3>\n

Forwards Gareth Bale<\/a> and James Rodr\u00edguez<\/a> will be among the biggest names to leave Madrid this summer.<\/p>\n

Bale’s long term feud with Zidane continued this season and it seems Zidane is willing to cut his losses with the Welshman this summer.<\/p>\n

Colombian forward Rodriguez has struggled for consistency at Madrid since his 2014 transfer from AS Monaco<\/a>. He has only made 11 appearances for the club this season.<\/p>\n

Further players looking set to leave Madrid include Lucas V\u00e1zquez<\/a>, Mariano D\u00edaz, \u00c1lvaro Odriozola<\/a> and Nacho Fern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n

Financial Balancing Act<\/h3>\n

Selling the likes of Bale, Rodr\u00edguez, V\u00e1zquez, D\u00edaz, Odriozola and Fern\u00e1ndez would reportedly bring in \u20ac121 million <\/a>in transfer fees for Madrid. Such sales would also free up an estimated \u20ac75 million<\/a> in player wages.<\/p>\n

Madrid look to strike a financial balancing act between selling and buying players this summer. The club want to overhaul areas of their first-team in preparation for next season.<\/p>\n

Allowing these players to leave frees squad places for incoming signings. It also ensures the club stay within La Liga’s maximum salary allowance for each club.<\/p>\n

Who Could Replace Axed Players?<\/h3>\n

Madrid are chasing a range of top players across Europe. It appears that defence and midfield are Zidane’s top priority for the next campaign.<\/p>\n

Chelsea stalwart N’Golo Kante and Rennes’ teenager Eduardo Camavinga<\/a> seem to be a target to provide competition for Casimero.<\/p>\n

Impressive RB Leipzig<\/a> centre-back Dayot Upamecano<\/a> is linked with the club and is reportedly a top target<\/a> for Zidane.<\/p>\n
