Manchester City<\/a> could lose Sergio Aguero<\/a> to former club Independiente<\/a> according to Simon Mullock from The Mirror<\/a>. The Argentine club are stepping up their efforts to bring their former player back.<\/p>\n

REPORT: Independiente Stepping Up Sergio Aguero Efforts<\/h2>\n

Independiente’s Interest in Sergio Aguero<\/h3>\n

The Argentine club want to convince Aguero to return to Avellaneda and stepped up their efforts to sign the 31-year-old.<\/p>\n

Aguero has just one year left on his current contract with City. Therefore, the 31-year-old may be tempted by a return to South America.<\/p>\n

But, it is highly unlikely that City would allow their talisman to leave without receiving a large transfer fee.<\/p>\n

Aguero began his career at Independiente. He scored 23 goals in 53 appearances for the club before transferring to Atletico Madrid<\/a> in 2006.<\/p>\n

Lucas Pusineri<\/a>‘s Charm Offensive<\/h3>\n

Current El Rojo<\/em> manager Lucas Pusineri spoke about the prospect of Aguero returning to Independiente recently.<\/p>\n

Speaking to radio station Super Miter Deportivo<\/a>, Pusineri said: <\/em>“Hopefully it will be my turn to be the coach of Kun Aguero.<\/p>\n

“I was a teammate of his and I hope that in the future I will get to be his coach.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully in my stay at Independiente, I can come to [reunite with] Sergio. We are keeping him the number 10.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe steps are being taken and hopefully he can return with good effect and give joy to the fans of the reds.”<\/p>\n

Pusineri played with Aguero at Independiente between 2003 and 2006. It is clear that the former midfielder clearly hopes to use his relationship with the 31-yar-old to lure him to Independiente.<\/p>\n

End of an Era for City?<\/h3>\n

If Aguero leaves City, it would signify the end to the most successful era in the club’s history.<\/p>\n

Since joining City in 2011, Aguero scored 254 goals for the club and helped them to win four Premier League titles, five League Cups and one FA Cup.<\/p>\n

In addition to Aguero, another long-term servant David Silva<\/a> also looks likely to leave the Etihad this summer.<\/p>\n

With both iconic players departing, it appears as though City will be hoping to begin a new era of success with a changing squad.<\/p>\n
