According to the Daily Express, the Toffees have joined the race alongside Juventus and United for the Real Madrid midfielder, leaving Rodriguez with a big decision to make in the summer.

REPORT: Everton Join Manchester United In Pursuit Of James Rodriguez

Red Devils are Leading the Race

Manchester United are reportedly in pole position for the Colombian’s signature. The Express has claimed that both Juventus and Manchester United have held talks with Rodriguez’s agent, Jorge Mendes. Manchester United, however, have the advantage of a potential swap deal involving wantaway midfielder, Paul Pogba. It has to be said that a potential midfield partnership between Bruno Fernandes and Rodriguez makes a deal to bring the Madrid man to Manchester even more enticing.

One thing that can’t go unsaid is the pulling power of Carlo Ancelotti, also leaving Everton in a good position for a potential deal. The fact that Rodriguez has worked well with the Italian in prior years makes this deal a real possibility. According to Italian football journalist, Nicolo Schira, Rodriguez is keen to work with Ancelotti again. Schira took to Twitter to say: “James himself would be keen on a reunion with manager Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park.”

Either way, James Rodriguez has a big decision to make in the summer about his future whether that be in Merseyside, Manchester or Turin. Both Everton and Manchester United are in good positions to secure the signing of the Madrid midfielder with the pulling power of both clubs apparent.

The deal, however, won’t come cheap with Madrid keen to make back their initial £63 million spent on the Columbian back in 2014. This could see Madrid set the asking price as high as £50 million in the summer.

Main Photo
Embed from Getty Images

After an injury-plagued spell in the Spanish capital, James Rodriguez looks set to swap Madrid for England in the summer, with both Everton and Manchester United reportedly interested in the Colombian.
