Manchester United<\/a> and Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> both want to sign Inter Milan<\/a> defender Diego Godin,<\/a> according to Italian news outlet Tuttosport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The veteran centre-back, who only joined Inter in summer 2019, struggled to break into the starting line-up under Antonio Conte<\/a> this season.<\/p>\n

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur Want Diego Godin<\/h2>\n

Godin’s Struggles at Inter<\/h3>\n

34-year-old Godin only made 16 league appearances for Inter before the suspension of Serie A in March. The Uruguayan only completed 90 minutes on eight occasions in the league this season.<\/p>\n

Inter boss Conte seemingly prefers Milan Skriniar<\/a> and <\/span>Stefan de Vrij<\/a> ahead of Godin. As a result, the experienced defender had few opportunities to impress at the San Siro.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Godin is reportedly<\/a> one of the highest-earners at Inter this season, so Conte wants to sell the defender this summer.<\/p>\n

United and Spurs look set to take advantage of his current situation. The defender may be available for around \u00a37 million.<\/p>\n

Experienced Defender<\/h3>\n

Godin would bring a wealth of experience to the Premier League if he chooses to leave Milan.<\/p>\n

The Uruguayan international was an instrumental figure at Atletico Madrid<\/a> under Diego Simeone<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Godin helped Atleti win La Liga in 2014 and was runner up in the Champions League in 2014 and 2016. He also continues to represent Uruguay at international level and made 136 appearances for his country.<\/p>\n

Will Godin Choose Manchester United or Tottenham<\/h3>\n

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer<\/a> and Jose Mourinho are both keen to strengthen in defence this summer. Both want to add experience to their squads, and Godin would be an ideal acquisition for both teams.<\/p>\n

However, Spurs continue to struggle financially due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The club are still paying off their new stadium and still owe money for transfer fees.<\/p>\n

This could limit their movement in the transfer window this summer. But, Godin would be a cheaper option if the club provides Mourinho with a limited budget.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils seem to be the favourites in the race for Godin currently, and Solskjaer may favour a short-term deal<\/a> for the 34-year-old.<\/p>\n

If United were to continue their impressive league form if the Premier League season resumes, they could be a more attractive target for Godin.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, a transfer to either side may hinge on whether they can secure Champions League football. Both sides currently sit outside the top four in the Premier League, with United in fifth and Spurs in eighth.<\/p>\n
