According to Chris Knight of the Newcastle Chronicle<\/a>, Burnley<\/a> winger Dwight McNeil<\/a> is attracting interest from Newcastle United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Impressive Performances for Burnley<\/h3>\n

Since making his debut for the Clarets in May 2018, McNeil has continued to impress for Sean Dyche’s side.<\/p>\n

Praised for his direct style of play, the 20-year-old has made 58 appearances for Burnley so far in his career, scoring five times. He also has 10 assists for the club, including five this season.<\/p>\n

His performances for Burnley have led to him receiving interest<\/a> from a number of clubs, including Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, the Magpies have now joined the race for the 20-year-old, who has a price-tag of \u00a335 million.<\/p>\n

According to the report, McNeil could be allowed to leave the Clarets in the next transfer window. However, the date of when the next transfer window begins is currently unknown due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

How Would Dwight McNeil Fit in at Newcastle?<\/h3>\n

McNeil’s direct style of play is likely to fit the style of Magpies boss Steve Bruce, potentially leading to an easier transition if he were to move elsewhere.<\/p>\n

While he would not promise regular goals – although that is a side of his game that can be worked on – he would compliment the more outlandish style of current Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin<\/a> on the opposite flank.<\/p>\n

Before the season was suspended due to coronavirus, Bruce selected the Frenchman on the left wing, with Matt Ritchie<\/a> filling in on the right-hand side. McNeil’s arrival could mean Ritchie misses out.<\/p>\n

However, his arrival could depend on whether current owner Mike Ashley is still at the club. Talks are continuing Ashley and a new consortium<\/a> of owners. As a result, if he is close to selling the club he has owned for over a decade, he may be reluctant to part with more money.<\/p>\n
