Manchester United Looking for a World-Class Centre-Back<\/h3>\n

Manchester United are looking for a world-class centre-back in the summer.<\/p>\n

They signed Harry Maguire<\/a> in 2019, for a record \u00a380 million, and he has been very impressive. Although it may have taken a while for him to settle in, the Englishman is now an indispensable part of their team, as well as being captain, and he has nestled into that role very well.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils want someone first-class to partner him next season.<\/p>\n

Their current options are Eric Bailly<\/a> and Victor Lindelof<\/a>, but both have major flaws. The former is injury prone, while also having a very maverick and risky style of play, and the latter is not up to the standard of a title-winning side.<\/p>\n

Hence, United\u2019s search for a second central defender.<\/p>\n

Samuel Umtiti<\/a> is one option. When Jose Mourinho was in charge, they wanted to sign him<\/a>, but the interest never turned into a permanent transfer. This summer they will also make an attempt<\/a> to persuade him to leave the Camp Nou, swapping it for Old Trafford, and with Barcelona<\/a> wanting to fund a return<\/a> for former player Neymar<\/a>, and the Coronavirus having delved them into a difficult financial situation, Umtiti is one of the players they will look to profit from.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils have also been looking into<\/a> Koulibaly. Once again this interest is not new<\/a>, but it seems much stronger than ever before. The Manchester side are ready to pay the roughly \u00a390 million Napoli want, and as the Serie A<\/a> side are now searching for a replacement, this transfer looks even more likely to go through.<\/p>\n

Napoli\u2019s latest move is to search for a replacement, namely Diego Carlos<\/a> of Sevilla. In their eyes, the 27-year-old would make for a perfect direct replacement for Koulibaly, and they may need him in the summer with United closing in on a deal.<\/p>\n
