Burton Albion could lose a handful of players at the end of the 2019\/20 season, with some key players set to be out of contract.<\/p>\n
The Brewers, who sit 12th in League One are unlikely to challenge for the play-off spots whilst being well clear of the drop zone too.<\/p>\n
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Burton have offered their Pirelli Stadium to be used as hospital ‘overflow’ by local health services.<\/p>\n
Nigel Clough<\/a>‘s side won’t restart their season until at least April 30<\/a> following a joint decision by the footballing authorities.<\/p>\n The Scotsman has been in fine form for the Brewers this season, scoring nine goals from midfield so far.<\/p>\n The 25-year-old’s creativity is likely to attract interest come the summer, with Fraser already racking up 14 assists in all competitions this season.<\/p>\n Boss Nigel Clough hinted at some interest<\/a> in the attacking midfielder in January, but in the end, no business took place.<\/p>\n Burton will have to make an inviting offer if they wish to keep Fraser at the Pirelli for next season and, with the arrival of Joe Powell in January, it could be said that they’re already planning for the inevitable.<\/p>\n Sarkic had spells at both Anderlecht and Benfica before signing for the Brewers from Leeds United last summer.<\/p>\n Since the departure of top scorer Liam Boyce<\/a> in the January transfer window, the spotlight has more often fallen on Sarkic to be the man to deliver the goals.<\/p>\n Yet, the former Montonegren U21 player has featured in Burton’s frontline on 37 occasions this season, providing ten assists but only finding the back of the net five times.<\/p>\n Brayford joined the Brewers on deadline day in 2017, reuniting with Clough, whom he worked under at both Derby County and Sheffield United<\/a>.<\/p>\n He has since been part of the furniture in their defensive line, making 40 appearances this season and acting as captain for many of those.<\/p>\n Brayford signed a one-year contract extension<\/a> last summer and is now 32-years-old but he is still a consistent performer, even popping up with three goals to his name too – it would be little surprise to see him around next year.<\/p>\n The former Republic of Ireland international has been a constant for Burton in the heart of midfield, often doing the hard work to allow others to grab goals or assists.<\/p>\n He arrived at the Pirelli in 2018 on the back of some injury troubles but has still managed to notch up over 80 games during his two seasons at the club.<\/p>\n The former Reading and Hull City man’s departure would leave a big hole in the middle of the park for the Brewers.<\/p>\n Club captain Buxton has been in and out of the side this season, with the likes of Richard Nartey<\/a> and John-Joe O’Toole<\/a> providing stern competition for a place in the starting line-up.<\/p>\n Buxton has been captain since his arrival in the summer of 2017 but now at the age of 35 years old, he isn’t able to feature as regularly for the Brewers.<\/p>\n However, the club’s limited finances may see them look to keep Buxton for one more year.<\/p>\n Joe Sbarra<\/a>, who has often featured for Burton off the bench, and Ben Fox<\/a>, who has only just returned from a serious knee ligament injury sustained in pre-season, are also out of contract this summer.<\/p>\n Other players out of contract at the end of this season include Colin Daniel<\/a>, Kieran Wallace<\/a> and Kwame Thomas<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Main Photo<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\nScott Fraser<\/a><\/h3>\n
