Mike Ashley&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonfootball.com\/2019\/08\/08\/premier-league-transfer-window-grading-each-clubs-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Newcastle United<\/a> was the first reputable club owner to take this action. Daniel Levy&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/tottenhamfootball.co\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> were soon to follow. The government will cover 80% of the wages of the furloughed workers. The aim is to protect as many people as possible from the virus.<\/p>\n<h3>Club Statement<\/h3>\n<p>A spokesperson for the Scottish club has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skysports.com\/football\/news\/11781\/11967010\/coronavirus-celtic-latest-club-to-place-non-playing-staff-on-furlough?fbclid=IwAR1c75_d5A4QEwE-lF4HDsx-57BHjhTpD6_fKjURYGHyD758U1GqvmU_0ec\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> &#8220;Like many organisations, due to the unprecedented challenges currently being faced, Celtic will be using the government job retention scheme available, in relation to a number of colleagues&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>The Club&#8217;s Act of Kindness<\/h3>\n<p>Celtic will ensure every single staff member on furlough leave receives 100% of the salary they are entitled to.
