According to Wayne Veysey of Football Insider<\/a>, Liverpool<\/a> have told winger Xherdan Shaqiri<\/a> that he can find a new club.<\/p>\n

Several Interested Parties<\/h3>\n

While the Swiss international is not out of contract until 2023, several clubs are chasing his signature.<\/p>\n

Spanish side Sevilla are thought to be leading the chase. Before the outbreak of coronavirus brought La Liga to a halt, they sat third in La Liga.<\/p>\n

However, both Roma and CSKA Moscow are also in contention for the 28-year-old.<\/p>\n

Shaqiri did have a short spell in Italy with Inter Milan in 2015, before joining Stoke City<\/a> eight months later.<\/p>\n

Out of Favour at Liverpool<\/h3>\n

Despite signing as a squad player, the Swiss international has fallen out of favour under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.<\/p>\n

He has featured just eight times for Liverpool so far this season, most of which have been from the bench. Shaqiri’s last start came in a 2-0 over Watford<\/a> in December, and his last appearance in a Liverpool shirt was as a 91st-minute substitute for Mohamed Salah<\/a> in a 1-0 over Tottenham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As a result, he is looking for more regular appearances as he reaches the prime of his career.<\/p>\n

Should Shaqiri depart, it could allow for Timo Werner<\/a> to make the move to Anfield. The German continues to be linked with a move to Merseyside, and according to the Sunday Express<\/a>, would be allowed his preference of shirt number.<\/p>\n

While not a like-for-like replacement, the German would prove a quality addition in attack for Jurgen Klopp’s side. So far this season he has scored 27 goals in 36 appearances, as RB Leipzig currently sit second in the Bundesliga.<\/p>\n

As a result, he is highly sought after by several clubs in Europe. However, Liverpool are said to be leading the chase for the striker.<\/p>\n
