Manchester United<\/a> have named their price for Chris Smalling<\/a>, as a club-record transfer hinges on his sale, according to James Whaling of the Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Chris Smalling\u2019s Success in Italy<\/h3>\n

Smalling has been extremely successful since joining Roma<\/a> on loan in the summer. The Englishman had failed to impress Ole Gunnar Solskjaer<\/a> in the 2018\/19 season, making a loan move a good option to boost his career. It has done exactly that.<\/p>\n

Smalling is a first-choice centre-back for La Magica<\/em>\u00a0and has contributed in attack too. The defender has two goals and an assist in Serie A<\/a> this season, very good for a player who was struggling for game-time just last season. La Lupa<\/em> are currently fifth, but very close to Champions League<\/a> qualification, and Smalling has helped them tremendously this season, attracting interest from not just the Italian outfit.<\/p>\n

Lots of Teams Interested<\/h3>\n

Aside from Roma, many Premier League<\/a> sides are interested in Smalling<\/a>. The likes of Arsenal<\/a> and Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> reportedly want the 30-year-old, and United have named their price accordingly. The Red Devils have slapped a \u00a325 million price tag on Smalling\u2019s head, and although Roma are shocked by this having hoped for a deal of under \u00a320 million, they have not renounced their interest.<\/p>\n

United\u2019s proposed price takes into account the interest from many sides with the competition for his signature likely to drive his price up to their preferred amount. They are also reluctant to sell him cheap, having let another out-of-favour centre-back Johnny Evans go for just \u00a36 million in 2015.<\/p>\n

The Transfer That the Sale of Chris Smalling Could Provoke for Manchester United<\/h3>\n

Should United manage to sell Smalling this summer, they could, reportedly<\/a>, make their move for long-time target Kalidou Koulibaly<\/a>. The Senegalese central defender is currently one of the world\u2019s best. He is exceptional at passing and tackling, and would fit perfectly into United\u2019s team next to Harry Maguire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They recently received a boost in their chase for his signature too, with the 28-year-old reportedly<\/a> ready to leave Napoli, and he could join in the summer for a club-record fee of \u00a393 million, four million more than the current record of \u00a389 million for Paul Pogba<\/a> in 2016.<\/p>\n
