UEFA announced today<\/a> that three of its club finals have been postponed. This includes the Women\u2019s Champions League final, the Europa League final and the UEFA Champions League final. These would have taken place in May.<\/p>\n

UEFA Cup Finals Postponed Indefinitely<\/h3>\n

UEFA are yet to announce when these finals will reoccur, if at all. The semantics of the ‘postponement’ suggests that there is still a target and belief to complete these competitions. Indeed, this a sentiment shared by the likes of the English FA and the Premier League;<\/a> they aim to restart the league in June. Covid-19 is not yet at its peak in the European countries and thus completing any of this season’s tournaments before the end of the summer would be a difficult task.<\/p>\n

There will be further announcements “in due course” from UEFA.<\/p>\n

According to Reuters<\/a>, there are reports that a final four style tournament may be utilised in Istanbul; in the remaining matches from the quarter-finals, there may be only one leg.<\/p>\n

Fixtures Left to Play<\/h3>\n

Women’s Champions League<\/h4>\n

The following teams are yet to face each other in either of the quarter-final legs;<\/p>\n

Atletico Madrid and Barcelona,<\/p>\n

Olympique Lyonnais and Bayern Munich,<\/p>\n

Arsenal Women and Paris Saint-Germain,<\/p>\n

Glasgow City FC and Vfl Wolfsburg.<\/p>\n

Europa League<\/h4>\n

Some of the matches in the first leg of the round of 16 were already postponed in Italian countries. However, UEFA have postponed the entirety of the second leg. The following teams are still in the competition;<\/p>\n

Getafe and Internazionale (Both matches postponed).<\/p>\n

Shakhtar Donetsk are currently 2-1 up on aggregate after a victory at Wolfsburg.<\/p>\n

Bayer Leverkusen won 3-1 at Rangers.<\/p>\n

Wolves are yet to play Olympiacos after their 1-1 draw in Piraeus.<\/p>\n

Manchester United<\/a> are 5-0 up against LASK.<\/p>\n

Eintracht Frankfurt would be looking to make up at 3-0 deficit as they are meant to face Basel.<\/p>\n

AS Roma and Sevilla (Both matches postponed).<\/p>\n

Copenhagen would be hosting Istanbul Basaksehir, looking to recover from a 1-0 defeat.<\/p>\n

Champions League<\/h3>\n

Similarly, the coronavirus outbreak interrupted the competition in the round of 16 stage.<\/p>\n

Atalanta bested Valencia 8-4 on aggregate and are through into the quarter-finals. Tottenham Hotspur faltered as RB Leipzig defeated them 4-0 across the two legs.<\/p>\n

Liverpool<\/a> could not progress to the quarter-finals; they lost 4-2 to Atletico Madrid in their tie. Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> won 3-2 against Borussia Dortmund.<\/p>\n

The following matches could not go ahead;<\/p>\n

Juventus<\/a> have not completed their tie against Olympique Lyonnais, where they find themselves 1-0 down.<\/p>\n

Manchester City<\/a> hold a 2-1 advantage over Real Madrid<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bayern Munich<\/a> took an impressive 3-0 victory at Stamford Bridge over Chelsea<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Barcelona and Napoli are all tied-up; the score in the tie is 1-1.<\/p>\n
