Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> have brought a halt to first-team training<\/a> until next month at the earliest. The call has come following the Premier League’s decision to extend the current postponement<\/a> to the 30th of April.<\/p>\n

Training Operations to Wind Down<\/h3>\n

Following the initial suspension of the season<\/a> due to the coronavirus outbreak on the 13th of March, Spurs had been the only London-based team to continue training as normal. The restart was due to occur on the 4th of April, however, the spread of the virus has forced a shutdown extension.<\/p>\n

The Premier League’s fresh provisional restart date has ultimately forced Spurs’ hand. With the next competitive fixture over 40 days away, the new postponement has caused a rethink amongst the Tottenham contingent.<\/p>\n

It has been understood by football.london<\/a> that manager Jose Mourinho made the call to end the current operations and alter training methods. The players must now maintain their fitness while at home. The coaching staff have designed fitness regimes that mirror pre-season training programmes. As such, the squad will undergo a miniature pre-season ahead of the pending Premier League restart.<\/p>\n

Injured Players Continuing Rehabilitation<\/h3>\n

Although there are no scheduled training sessions, the injured Tottenham contingent have been offered the chance to continue their rehab<\/a> at Hotspur Way. The delay to the season’s restart will give Spurs’ depleted squad the chance to recover following a highly-intense period. Son Heung-min<\/a>, Harry Kane<\/a>, Steven Bergwijn<\/a> and Moussa Sissoko<\/a> are among those who will be able to use the facilities.<\/p>\n

It has also been suggested that the Amazon cameras will continue to be in operation<\/a>, with filming to continue at the training centre during the shutdown. Amazon have placed new cameras to monitor the goings-on, capturing the players’ rehabilitation for Spurs’ season documentary.<\/p>\n
