Furthermore, his performances landed him an England youth call up.<\/p>\n<p>The Monkey Hangers wanted to keep their prospect, but a rumoured six-figure fee seems to have swayed them elsewhere.<\/p>\n<h2>Chelsea Win Race for Brad Young<\/h2>\n<h3>Sky High Potential<\/h3>\n<p>Donning the number 31, Brad Young was born on 5 May 2002, making him only 17 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Having started at Sunderland, he was released before ending up with the National League outfit, where he has shone ever since.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hartlepool&#8217;s official website, &#8220;giant goalkeeper Brad Young was handed his first professional deal at the club after making excellent progress for the Youth Team last term.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The 6ft 4ins teenager has been on the books at Pools for five years and has shown great potential. [He stepped] up to play Youth Team football in 2017\/18 despite still being an Under-16.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, Young has been on trial with Chelsea over the last two weeks and a provisional fee has been agreed ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n<h3>Praise from Former Chelsea Player Ross Turnbull<\/h3>\n<p>Former Chelsea back-up Ross Turnbull is Hartlepool&#8217;s goalkeeping coach. The 35-year-old only had good things to say about the up-and-coming National League youngster.<\/p>\n<p>He said, &#8220;At the moment, it\u2019s all potential with Brad. Whenever anyone asks me about him I always say that if his work ethic and willingness to learn continues as it is then he will give himself the best opportunity to go and have a career as a professional footballer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That\u2019s got to be his goal. He\u2019s on the right path at the moment but it\u2019s still early days.
