Manchester United<\/a> loanee and Burton Albion<\/a> goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara has been banned for six games after being found guilty of biting an opposition player on the arm.<\/p>\n

The Incident<\/h3>\n

During the 44th minute of 1-1 draw against Peterborough<\/a>, there was an incident involving O’Hara and a Peterborough attacking midfielder Sammie Szmodics<\/a>. Following the match, it was reported that O’Hara had bitten Szmodics on the arm.<\/p>\n

At the time of the incident, Szmodics complained to the referee, but it was not witnessed by officials. There is no VAR in League One, so the game continued on with no repercussions for O’Hara.<\/p>\n

What was Said<\/h3>\n

Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough<\/a> said O’Hara was “adamant in denying” FA allegations that he bit Szmodics. Because of this, Clough confirmed that the club would fight the charge.<\/p>\n

A statement from the FA on Friday 6\/3 said: “An independent Regulatory Commission has suspended Kieran O’Hara for six matches with immediate effect and fined him \u00a32,500 for a breach of FA Rule E3.<\/p>\n

“The Burton Albion FC goalkeeper denied that his behaviour during the 44th minute of an EFL League One fixture against Peterborough United FC on Saturday 29 February 2020 amounted to violent and\/or improper conduct but the charge was subsequently found proven. The Independent Regulatory Commission’s written reasons will be published in due course.”<\/p>\n

The Ban<\/h3>\n

The ban comes into effect immediately. This will cause the Manchester United loanee to miss Saturday’s League One fixture away at Lincoln City<\/a>. It is a six-game ban, so it will continue into April.<\/p>\n

Burton will be making no further comments on this incident. The 23-year-old has not made a first-team appearance for Manchester United. He has had a solid season with the Brewers before this incident, keeping nine clean sheets in 33 league games.<\/div>\n
