Three points is what separates them from a coveted return to the continent, and potentially a Champions League spot as a result of Manchester City‘s European ban. Those aspirations are what Everton need to have in mind as the season nears an end.

Everton Have to Target Europe This Season Under Carlo Ancelotti

A Daunting Next Four Games But Four That Should Not Be Feared

Arsenal away; Manchester United at home; Chelsea away and Liverpool at home. Under Marco Silva at the start of the season, the Toffees’ next four games would be viewed with trepidation. However, with optimism rife at Goodison Park, there is nothing to be feared.

Alongside the high spirits under Ancelotti, the next four present a task that is arguably not as difficult as previously. Away from home, The Emirates and Arsenal are not the challenge that they once were, while the turn of the year has seen Chelsea turn into an unknown and inconsistent quantity. Manchester United, in transition, are not a threatening challenge, especially away from home, while Liverpool pose the biggest test of all; the potential opportunity to delay the Reds title win will be one that they will not want to miss.

These games are the ones that the Toffees need to start winning to fulfil their European ambitions. With the millions that has been spent under Farhad Moshiri replicating those of Champions League sides, Everton will be hoping that they do not remain languishing in mid-table for much longer. If they do, then key players – such as Richarlison – may see their days numbered at Goodison Park.

Carlo Ancelotti is Here for the Long-Term, So Utilise It

Carlo Ancelotti has signed up for a long-term project. There are aspirations of Europe, trophies and being a success once their stadium move comes to fruition.

As a result, the Toffees need to utilise the time they have under the watch of a world-class manager. While he himself has a point to prove, having not won a trophy since his first season at Bayern Munich, Everton have to prosper off of the back of his management.

It would be a catastrophic failure if Everton did not eventually reach Europe under Carlo Ancelotti. This season is by no means impossible, just four points off of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth. However, to not reach it all would render their gung-ho approach on transfers pointless.

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

From potential relegation to candidates for a European spot – it has been a quick transformation for Everton under Carlo Ancelotti.
