The deal that he signed towards the end of 2019 is set to last until 2023, and upon his signing as head coach, he made the claim that he believed Arsenal had lost its way. Hoping to bring some direction back to the team, Arteta said that he didn’t want players to shirk their responsibility.

Arsenal Improving Defensively Under Arteta But Missing Key Opportunities

It was on December 26, 2019, that Arteta appeared for the first time as Arsenal’s manager for their Premier League match against A.F.C. Bournemouth. That ended in a 1-1 draw, thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring a second-half equaliser. It wasn’t until January 2 of this year that Arteta saw his team win their first match, with a 2-0 victory over Manchester United.

Yet, questions still linger as to why Arsenal haven’t been able to score more than two goals since Arteta has taken over as manager. Furthermore, it seems strange that the team has gone through 13 games where they have finished up with a draw result. The team’s tally of 32 goals from 25 League matches is actually the lowest of the big six clubs, too. And while it’s true that the new manager has improved the team’s defensive record, even goalkeeper Bernd Leno has made claims that they need to score more goals to make progress.

Sports bettors have been none too pleased over their wagers on an Arsenal victory coming in as losses, though. Although, some have found it easier to just opt for the draw bet and come up trumps with their bets. Anyone wanting to involve themselves in this can do so by visiting Betenemy at betenemy.com/en/ so as to place their own sports bets on all Arsenal’s future games.

Where Does Arsenal Go from Here?

“I think we have chances in every game and we just have to take these chances,” said the team’s goalie. That comment came after the goalless draw that Arsenal went through against Burnley. He spoke of them having two or three chances at scoring in that game, but despite this not happening, Leno still said that “everything is still further along”, with regard to the progress of Arsenal being under new management.

Leno also commented that while players in the team have a “good mentality”, they have to put in a little bit more work during training. Claims that the Gunners are defending better as a team were also something that Leno agreed with, stating that they’re “doing very well”.

“I think there is a mentality that everyone defends, and we are defensively playing much better than before. Unfortunately, we didn’t score”, he commented on the Burnley result.

It seems as though Arsenal will spend the mid-winter break getting to grips with their new loan signings in Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares, though. Leno has a sense of confidence over these players, claiming that he believes they will improve the team and its results.

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

It was in December last year that Mikel Arteta became head coach of Arsenal, a team that he previously played for himself in the midfielder position.
