Inter Milan<\/a> midfielder Christian Eriksen<\/a> has revealed that he became “the black sheep” during his contract stalemate at Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Dane recently upped sticks in north London to join the Serie A<\/a> high-flyers, which brought an end to his six-and-a-half-year stint<\/a> in the Premier League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

From Spurs Hero to Villain<\/h3>\n

Eriksen hit the ground running in England<\/a> and became a fan-favourite at Spurs, establishing himself as the side’s linchpin, crucial to how the team played. However, all of that seems to have disappeared following the Dane’s multiple contract stand-offs and claiming he “wanted a new challenge”<\/a> in the summer.<\/p>\n

In an interview with BBC Sport<\/a>, Eriksen said: “If you have a short contract, you will be the black sheep. Of course, I did the interview. I was very honest. I felt I had to be honest.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t want to hide like a lot of players do. Everyone is different. I was honest. I wanted to say it out loud”, he added.<\/p>\n

“I did get the blame for a lot of stuff, for being the bad guy. I read I was the bad person in the changing room. That ever since I said I wanted to leave, it was no good me being there.<\/p>\n

Relieved to Silence the Background Noise<\/h3>\n

The uncertainty around Christian Eriksen’s future had begun when the Dane was entering his prime years: coincidentally, when Tottenham were at their best. For Eriksen, he will no doubt be happy to silence the rumours after sealing his Italian switch.<\/p>\n

“Yes. England, for the last few years, was very hectic. After what I said in the summer, it was just about ‘when is he going to leave?’ Every game it was ‘Is he leaving? Is he not leaving?’ Of course, a lot of people were speaking about it.<\/p>\n

“The fans you see on the street were like ‘Thank you, goodbye and good luck’. But I was still there. It was a bit weird. In my head and for my body, it is good that I am in a new place and I can start again.”<\/p>\n
